New materials are now available which have properties similar to those of amalgam (silver fillings), so the life expectancy of a white filling depends on where it is in your mouth and how heavy your bite is. We will be able to advice you on the best options for you.

White Dental Fillings

Do you have dark or discoloured amalgam (silver) fillings that are visible when smiling or laughing?

Replace Unsightly Amalgam fillings with White tooth coloured fillings. They look like your natural teeth and are long lasting.
The latest white fillings are available in a wide range of colours and translucency's. We are able to closely match the colour of your teeth so your white fillings look completely natural.

Inlays and Onlays (to Repair Chipped Teeth)

Inlays and Onlays are tooth coloured fillings and are used for larger areas of the tooth. They can also be used on the front teeth to contour chipped teeth. They are tailor made by Dental Laboratory Technicians.

When are Inlays and Onlays used?

Inlays and onlays are used when a cavity is large but the surrounding tooth is healthy. Instead of reducing the healthy tooth to fit a crown, inlays are made from porcelain, gold or resin. An inlay sits in a hole in the tooth and an onlay sits on the tooth to build up its shape.

White fillings bond better and can be used to reshape or rebuild broken or worn teeth, although they are not always successful if the filling is very large. If this is the case then crowns or inlays can be used (which are a natural colour), but this may require more of the tooth to be removed and are consequently more expensive. Veneers can also be an alternative to fillings on the front teeth.
